2009 McKnight Foundation Media Workshop, Minneapolis, MN

  • Click here to download the Mastering the Media presentation. Melissa Winkler of IRC discussed the guidelines on dealing with media, which included understanding how the media works, conveying a successful message, how to conduct and interview, how to generate news coverage and respond to negative news. 
  • Click here to download the excel Media List for the Twin Cities. The Media List should be scanned and edited since it was complied by someone who wasn’t familiar with the Twin Cities, but most importantly keep adding to it. Every time you speak to a reporter, you should add their contact details. Anytime you hear or see a story on issues relevant to you or your organization, you should add the reporters name so that you have their contact information easily accessible, should you need to get in touch with that reporter in the future or when you are issuing a press release.
